Excel Solid Top F Style Mandolin w/Hard Case

This Excel mandolin is a second that we purchased some time ago and I just never got around to setting it up until today. It has a solid spruce top and features an oval soundhole, gold plated hardware, mother-of-pearl headstock inlay and fingerboard dots, adjustable ebony bridge, and a very nice hard shell case. I do not know if the fingerboard is ebony or rosewood. The 13th fret is slightly high, so two pairs of strings buzz at the 12th fret. The "EXCEL" logo is not mother of pearl, but has been painted on in white paint. I think it's pretty ugly, and I also think it would be pretty easy to remove...

The action is set low, so the strings are close to the fingerboard and it is easy to play. There is a spot under the fingerboard that was left unfinished. You can see it in the pictures. It's not noticeable unless you hold the instrument a certain way and look underneath. The neck splice is also very ugly cosmetically. There's nothing wrong with it, but they didn't do a good job of matching the stain color, so it's very noticeable when you look at the back of the neck. You can also see this in the picture.

As far as I can tell, there is nothing wrong with the case at all. It is a hard shell, vinyl covered wooden case with black velvety interior.

This instrument outfit is sold as is, no returns, no trade-ins. It is a real bargain at $170 plus shipping/insurance.

Featherweight Guitar Cases

We bought an entire pallet of these cases and are selling them at the blow-out price of only $34.99! These cases had guitars in them, but that was only at the warehouse. They were never actually used for anything other than warehouse storage. These cases have a nice size pocket for music on the outside, and also have the storage compartment on the inside for picks, capos and such. Inside is gray velvet; outside is black canvas. Zipper closure, and a shoulder strap included. We have dreadnaught size and classical size. Cost is $34.99 plus shipping. If you purchase a guitar, we will sell you the case for $29.99!

Gemeinhardt Nickel Flute 4732

Great student flute for someone not wanting to waste their money on rental. This is a Gemeinhardt M-1 flute, nickel plated, with ABS hard case. This instrument has all new pads, good corks and springs, and very few dents. The instrument has quite a bit of plate wear where the fingers actually touch the flute. This is cosmetic in nature only. Guaranteed playing condition. The case is in good condition, though the right latch is crooked and slightly misaligned. Also comes with cleaning rod. Cost is $99 plus shipping. As-is, no returns, no trade-ins.

**SOLD** Fiddle/Violin 2023

**SOLD** Full size violin. We believe this fiddle is German in origin and dates from the early 1900's. There is disagreement over whether or not this violin has been refinished, so to be safe we will say it has been. The back is flamed maple and is crack free. There is one very small chip in the rib right below the endpin which is covered by the chinrest hardware. The scroll is crack free and has no issues other than the tuning pegs are short and will need to be replaced within a year or two. The top has several repaired tight cracks on the top. It has no sound post or bass bar cracks.

Ebony pegs; rosewood fingerboard; plastic chinrest; hardwood chinrest with four fine tuners; vintage maple bridge with ebony insert; Super Sensitive Red Label steel strings.

This violin has a wonderful sound. I would classify it as loud, and it would be a good bluegrass or country fiddle. Cost is $249 plus shipping. Sold as is with no returns, as we did not do the repair work on this instrument.

Handmade oak mandolin case

Handmade oak mandolin case. The case appears to be made out of 3/4 and 1/4 inch oak plywood. The case has brass latches and hinges. The handle is chrome and black plastic. The interior is a thin red cloth over styrofoam and is somewhat crude. The case will hold either an F style or A style mandolin. The case has not been stained or varnished. It is heavy and would best be suited for display purposes versus everyday carry.

This would make a nice presentation piece or trophy if stained or varnished. A brass engraved name plate could also be added to the top of it.

Sold as-is, no return, no trade-ins. The case is being "blown out" for $39.99 plus shipping. Shipping is estimated at $25 due to its weight.

*SOLD* Austin AU341S Acoustic Guitar 2815

**SOLD**THIS INSTRUMENT IS NOT IN PLAYABLE CONDITION. This is a brand new Austin guitar, which was made by the Alvarez company. We purchased this guitar three years ago new from St. Louis Music. When we went to set up the guitar, we discovered it didn't have a truss rod. All of the strings play with slight buzz, except for the E string which is so low that it actually touches the frets.

Top is made of laminated spruce, and the back and sides are mahogany. This guitar would be good for parts, or good for someone who knows how to work on instruments and is willing to do the work to make it playable.

Cost is $25 plus shipping. Sold as-is, no returns, no trade-ins.
